National Novel Writing Month

November 1, I wrote 1662, pew I did it!

I wrote about me baby sitting Bea my nearly three year old grand daughter.

Bea watching TV while Luigi is enjoying her cuddles.

NANOWRIMO 2019 starts November 1

Are you going to join me next month and see if we can finish 50 000 words during the 30 days of November? I am going to write in Afrikaans and all about my years from my study years up to the last year in South Africa. That would be a stretch from 1965 up to 2008.

Share Your World – 2015-10-19: Week 42

I had to share my world this week!

This photo was taken late one afternoon when the rain cleared up a bit.

This is how it looks from the front door at my son’s place.

Share Your World – 2015 Week #42

The following questions are asked by Cee:

Are you usually late, early, or right on time?

I am always trying to be early. I hate it to be late and also if others don’t turn up on time.

If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels?

I love to write flash fiction stories. The shorter the better. My first e-book is out called Flash Fiction!

Where did you live at age ten?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

I lived near Pretoria, South Africa, in a rural town called Erasmia. Not the same place and even not the same country anymore!

Would you rather be able to fly or breathe under water?

Fly is better than under water. I am not very at ease in water.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful that I am healthy and have the opportunity to look after my son’s place and help him out running his small business while touring Europe for three weeks!

I also had the first lesson or session on writing short stories.

The coming week I looking forward to my second session on writing. I also look forward to finish off my book I have to complete for my “It’s Write Easy” for this year. I am doing this writing every Friday at our local library.

Thanks to Cee for hosting this challenge every week.

Tragedy : FFfAW – Week of 09-08-2015

Pushing his face flat against the wet window Timmy could still not see much.

He knew that his special friend was in the garden. He had seen him before the torrential rain started falling an hour ago.

Timmy is a special little boy who loves to live in his own dreamworld. He has to amuse himself because he is disabled and can’t really use his legs. His Mum pushed the wheelchair next to the window because she knows he loves to look outside and talk to his friend. “Mum,” shouted Timmy: “ Sandy is outside, he can’t swim. I have to save him!” Timmy opened the window, pushed himself up and out of the window. The rain was pouring down on him. The shock of the sudden wet and cold water prevented Timmy to call out for help.

Ten minutes later Timmy’s mother stood in shock with the body of her son in her arms. She was too late to save him from drowning.

3 Dae, 3 Aanhalings : Dag 3 Jon Kabat-Zinn

Die derde dag se aanhaling het sommer so in die verbygaan gekom.

Ek het n werkswinkel bygewoon oor

Gesondheid en welsyn.

Hoe weet jy dat jy stress?

Hoe hanteer jy stress?

Hoekom is die negatief altyd die beginpunt?

Veg jy of vlug jy?

Jon Kabat-Zinn

Ek moet net die volgende ook gee:

Perhaps we just need little reminders from time to time that we are already dignified, deserving, worthy. Sometimes we don’t feel that way because of the wounds and the scars we carry from the past or because of the uncertainty of the future. It is doubtful that we came to feel undeserving on our own. We were helped to feel unworthy. We were taught it in a thousand ways when we were little, and we learned our lessons well.”
Jon Kabat-Zinn

Ek wil graag die volgende drie nomineer om  drie dae drie aanhalings te doen:

100 Words Challenge For Grown Ups- Week 155

The prompt for this week is:

… as time passes…

“Impossible,” Mable thought.

“I can’t believe this. The old woman in the pawn shop said last week: Look out for the mark on your face because it will change…. as time passes… you will see the difference!”

I hate the woman because now I have this mark of the devil on my face. I can’t wash or scrub it off. It grows bigger and bigger!

Mable got so angry she grabbed a knife to carve it away. Then she remembered the words again:” ….as time passes… you will heal again”

FFfAW Week of April 29, 2015 : Duck tale

Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers

Week of 4-29-2015

©Dawn Miller

This is the best spot we can go to. We need to move fast!

The duck shooting season started yesterday. I hope to be in time to warn my family and friends to move away from our summer pond to this quiet pond.

The pond where we are at the moment is very overcrowded. The stream and dam is nearly dry after the drought. I mothered 16 ducklings and only 3 survived the season. I really want them to survive.Maybe I should quietly only bring them over here.We can start a new life, without fighting for a morsel to eat. Hubby Duck will also love it here.

This pond will be ideal for my new nest and eggs.

FFfAW week 5. 3/18/2015

FFfAW Week of 3/18/2015

Here we are. We are supposed to enter  through the roof.

I don’t know how we are going to succeed if we are still down in the garden without any equipment to climb the wall.

We were supposed to land  on top of the roof. The wind was blowing in the right direction while we were gliding. We had to land onto the roof as soon as we were near. It  would have been successful. But…..

Suddenly the wind  swirled around into the other direction away from the house. We quickly had to decide to anyway land as near as possible. That is where we  are now, in a very difficult situation.  We will never be in a position so that nobody would discover us. Our secret meeting with the judge is just 10 minutes away…….

A very important meeting blown away in the wind.

100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups : Week 170

…the scent was overpowering…

When I entered my home the scent was overpowering!

The scent of a stranger in my own house. The scent of a woman I know.

Why was she here while I wasn’t home?

I walked to our bedroom. OUR bedroom of all places.

There they were. Both in the bedroom. Both naked.

I felt I was going to faint. Then suddenly I felt calm again, turned around never to return to this place again.

Till today when I smell the scent I want to freeze. Life goes on, I don’t want to smell it again.
