Frost this morning

This morning was -2 in Upper Hutt. Frost everywhere and cold too.

Trompie walking on the frozen grass.

A strange walker on the pavement!

Late afternoon at school.(about 4 o’clock pm)

Winter is upon us.

June started with downpours, strong winds and drop in temperature. Today was a holiday to celebrate the Queens birthday. It was a glorious morning, a bit chilly at first but later it turned out warm and sunny.

Sheep in the paddock

I also had a visit from the family on Sunday.

Bea and I played with some of my jewelry. The photos are not that good but it shows how Bea enjoyed picking up ever piece and move it from one place to another.

It is still winter here in New Zealand.

One freezing morning my

neighbour had ICE FLOWERS on his car.

This is how the sky looked early that same morning!

Lucky for me, my car was under the car port.

Snow on the hill tops.

I have been looking after a friend’s dogs for 10 days now.

Her husband had a stroke and is still in the stroke ward.

Today my friend got the good news and her husband was moved to rehab ward.

She may now take the dogs with her and visit her husband.

I took the following photos in town from my friend’s front pavement.

We had a good dust of snow last night and during the day too.

This was just after 3 pm when the sun shone on the hills.

Sorry for all the power lines!

Five Photos, five stories : day 2 New Zealand First adventures.

I would like to invite you or anyone to join the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge.

Totara Park stay

The first 9 months I had the opportunity to live with my son and partner. During the winter months it was really cold because I was used to 10- 15 C in winter and here it was -0 and less up to maybe 10 C. I also saw real snow on the hills here for the first time.  When I sat on my bed I could see this snowy sight.

This photo is of the hills with snow and from my bedroom window 2009.

We do not get much snow in winter.  The tops of the Rimutaka Hills, which are higher than the surrounding hills, are usually covered with snow during winter.

In the back ground is the same hills I could see from my bedroom. This was taken from the back garden.
